Changes to Lending Policy

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority have imposed on lenders a cap of 10 per cent per year on investor credit growth.

What this means for borrowers is more stringent lending policy being introduced by most of the major banks due to the high amount of loan they have been writing.

CBA have announced they will be introducing new policies this week which will make it much more difficult for investors and owner occupiers alike to purchase.

Whilst the APRA ruling is across the board for all lenders, this does not mean that all lenders will introduce the same policy changes. Those with a smaller lending portfolio will still be in a position to offer higher loan to value ratio loans but this will constantly change.
